The importance and depth of this pose is often overlooked as most believe it is simply standing. Tapping into your ability to keep your feet firmly on the ground, stand up for yourself, improve posture and find your sense of security are all long term benefits of this beautiful pose. See the Blog Post on the website www.pureheartyogaretreat.com
Essential Oils to enhance Tadasana
Muladhara, the base chakra is our connection with the earth, our grounding with the activities of our life. To assist us to connect with this space during our yoga practice and especially with Tadasana/Mountain Pose we can use oils that are grounding, strengthening and centering. Try something like Perfect Potions Balance Chakra blend of patchouli, lavender, cedarwood Atlas, black pepper, vetiver & sweet orange. You could also choose any one of these combined in a oil burner or add a few drops to a base oil and massage prior to your yoga practice.

Recipe this month – Asparagus and Goat’s Cheese Frittata
For those of us that love eggs in our diet as a lighter alternative to other protein, this frittata is a great way to use up vegetables in the fridge.
The goat cheese is optional but for those living in the Deux Sevres area of France we are spoilt with choice on goat cheeses.
Ingredients to Serve 2
3 large asparagus spears, sliced thinly
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp salt and good pinch of pepper
1/2 tsp lemon zest
8 large fresh mint leaves, shredded
1/2 tsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp butter of ghee
1/2 small/med onion, peeled and chopped
40g crumbly goat’s cheese
Blanch the asparagus in a bowl of boiling water for 1-2 minutes or until cooked to your liking, then drain. Whisk the eggs with the seasoning, lemon zest and mint.
Preheat the grill to 180C (or medium).
Heat the oil and butter or ghee in a small non-stick omelette or pancake pan (approx 15cm) with a heatproof handle. Add the onion, cook until soft and turning golden at the edges. Add the asparagus, whisked eggs and goat’s cheese to the pan. Turn the head down as low as possible, cover and cook for 2-4 minutes. Uncover and cook until the frittata feels firm about 3/4 the way up.
